How to get to Granada?
Granada is very well connected by air and land, allowing easy access to the city by various means of transport: bus, cab, car, train and plane. Granada airport is located 20 km from Granada between the municipalities of Chaucina and Santa Fe and is very well connected to the capital by regular bus, cab and car via highway A-92G (Santa Fe-Granada). Other options to get to Granada
As international connections to Granada airport are quite limited, the best option to reach Granada by plane is to take an international flight to Malaga or Madrid and then a connection to Granada.
Málaga
Malaga is the closest international airport to Granada (125 km). Malaga airport (AGP) is served by direct international flights from all major European cities.
Once you arrive at Malaga airport, the possibilities to get to Granada by public transport are as follows:
Direct bus from the airport to the Granada bus station (12€ approx. and about 2 h of journey). This is the easiest way to get to Granada. There are about 10 daily departures. To check if the schedules fit with your flight schedule you can check here.
If the direct bus connection is not an option for you, then the most convenient solution is to take a train to Malaga Central Station (Maria Zambrano Station). To get to the station from the airport the easiest way is to take the suburban train (line C1). From there you can take a direct bus to Granada (the Central Train Station is in front of the Malaga Bus Station) almost every hour.
Another option is to take a cab from Malaga Airport to Granada (145€ approx. and about 1,30 h trip). Malaga airport has several areas with public cab ranks distributed throughout the terminals.
Madrid
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD) is located 418 km from Granada. It is the first airport in Spain and serves a total of 171 destinations operated by 69 airlines. Thus, Madrid airport is one of the main entry points for tourists from other European countries and the world in general.
Once you arrive at Madrid airport, the possibilities to get to Granada by public transport are as follows.
Direct bus from the airport to the Granada bus station (from 20 euros and about 5.15 hours). This is the easiest way to get there. To check if the timetables fit your flight schedule you can have a look here.
If the direct bus connection is not an option for you, then you can take a train from Madrid – Puerta de Atocha Station. To check if the schedules match your flight you can have a look here. To get to Atocha Station from the airport, you can travel by metro (line 8), bus (line 203) or cab.
You can also take a cab or VTC from Madrid airport. All terminals have cab ranks outside the arrivals areas, which are clearly signposted. You can take a cab directly from the taxi stand at the airport. This is the most expensive option for a single person, but can be affordable if several people share a cab.
